WAPELLO - Maybelle I. Bennett, 89, a resident of the Wapello Nursing Care Center in Wapello, died there Monday, Dec. 2, 1991.

There will be no attending services. The burial of the cremains will be later at the Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bennett was born Dec. 25, 1901 in Louisa County, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wheeler. She married Ernest Bennett in 1920 in Wapello. He died in 1972.

She was a graduate of the Wapello High School and was an early telephone operator in Wapello. She was primarily a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Russell Bennett, of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandsons, one brother, Omer Wheeler, of Charlevoix, Mich; and one sister, Anna Brown of Wapello.
