Jesse L. Bennett Called By Death

Jessie L. Bennett, a long time resident of this community died at the farm of his son Clifford Bennett near Gladwin Sunday morning, June 4, 1961 at the age of 84 years 6 months and 18 days. He had been making his home with his son for the past six months.

Mr. Bennett was born at Letts, Iowa, November 16, 1876 the son of John Harvey and Lucretia Day Bennett. He married Clara Abney on May 7, 1898. He was a farmer for many years and also worked for a while in Davenport. In recent years he and Mrs. Bennett had lived in Fredonia until her death November 7, 1960.

He is survived by one son, Clifford, on brother, Lester Bennett of Davenport and one sister, Mrs. Sadie Brinkman of Davenport; and three grandchildren.

One sister had preceded him in death this past week.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Stacy Funeral home conducted by the Rev. Robert M. Parris. Music was by Mrs. B.O. Roundy. Flower attendants were Mrs. Lewis Bickel and Mrs. Edwin Lindsay. Casket bearers were Edwin Lindsay, John Haywood, Lester Bennett Jr., Willard Bennett, Max Blankenhorn and Edwin Marcussen.

Burial was in the Indian Creek Cemetery.
