Charles H. Benhart Called By Death

Charles H. Benhart, father of Mrs. Jerry (Bette) Griffin of Columbus Junction, died April 20, 1967, at University hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. He was born May 23, 1905 in Seneca, Wisconsin, the son of Frank A. and Ida Messling Bernhart. He was aged 61 years, 10 months 28 days.

August 27, 1934 he married Ethel Fisher who survives with his daughter and two sons, Marvin D. Benhart of Burlington, Iowa and Wayne C. Benhart of Jacksonville, Florida. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Ida Benhart of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; four brothers, Paul of Lynxville, Wisconsin, Leo of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Harold of Racine, Wisconsin and Leslie of Geneseo, Illinois; and three isters, Mrs. Iona Sutton of Seneca, Wisconsin, Mrs. Sylvia Clynch of Chicago, Illinois, and Mrs. Vivian Gardner of Berwyn, Illinois; six granchildren and many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his father and two brothers.

Butch as he was well known, was employed at Yetter Oil Company and a member of the Teamsters Union. An avid Sportsman, he was a member of the Long Creek Conservation Club.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, 1967, at the Elliot-Lunning Chapel with the Rev. David Michaels officiating. Interment was at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Burlington.
