Marjorie Benbow, 64, dies

Marjorie (Mrs. James) L. Benbow, 64, 522 Avenue A. Fort Madison, died Tuesday, May 15, 1984, in Burlington Medical Center. She was in failing health for two months.

Mrs. Benbow was born October 7, 1919 in Columbus Junction. She had been a Fort Madison resident since 1945 and adult service worker for Lee County Department of Social Services for 15 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Chapter BF of PEO, Chapter AY of TTT, Charity Circle of her church, and Tri Delta of Coe College.

She married James R. Benbow September 2, 1942, in Columbus Junction. He survives.

Other survivors are two sons, James E. Benbow of Des Moines, Paul R. Benbow, Fort Madison; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Eliason of Des Moines and Mrs. Elizabeth McClellan of Kirksville, Missouri; one brother, Robert F. Reaney, Columbus Junction; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one aunt, Louise Reaney, Columbus Junction. She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Edith M. Earle Reaney.

The funeral was held Thursday, May 17, in First United Methodist Church at Fort Madison. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery in that city.

A memorial will go to the Iowa Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.
