Wapello Republican, August 3, 1993

Frank Jennings Belzer, age 78, of Wapello and formerly of Muscatine, Iowa, died Sunday afternoon, August 1, 1993 at Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska. He was born May 27, 1915 in Mahaska, County, Iowa, the son of Charles and Mabel Kennedy Belzer. He married Lila Laugen on June 19, 1949 at Houston, Minnesota.

He was an Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Belzer was an engineer and worked for Stanley Consultants of Muscatine for 31 years and at his retirement in 1978 he was a Principle Transmission Engineeer.

Mr. Belzer was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wapello and was on the Library Board at Wapello. He had done research for the Geneological Society and had just completed a four year term on the Southeast Iowa Commission on Aging.

The funeral service for Frank Belzer was held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 4, 1993 at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Young officiated and Kathleen Hagele provided the zgat a later date at the Bluff Creek Cemetery in rural Mahaska County, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Lila; one son, Jim and Des Belzer of Columbus, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Eric and Erin; one sister, Bernice Townsley of Ottumwa; and one brother Charlie Belzer of Newton.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Public Library and the United Methodist Church, Wapello.
