Ruth Naomi Victoria Bell, 97, of New London, formerly of Letts, died Sunday, April 28, 1996, at New London Care Center.

Born November 18, 1898, in Oakville, she was the daughter of Alfred and Anna Anderson Bjork. She attended Oakville Schools. On April 7, 1919, she married Lloyd G. Bell in Burlington, He died December 3, 1970.

Mrs. Bell was chief operator of Central Electric Telephone Co. for many years and an agent in Letts.

She was a member of New London Presbyterian Church, New London Eastern Star Chapter 440 and birthday club.

Survivors include one son, C.R. "Bud" Bell of Rochelle, Ill.; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bell were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 1996, in the New London Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Sam Pendergrast officiating. Burial was in the Letts Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the American Diabetes Association.
