John Benjamin Bell, 83, of Columbus Junction, died at his home on Tuesday morning, July 10, 1990.

He was born December 27, 1906, in Louisa County, the son of Clifford and Maude Hetfield Bell. He married Fern Colton on August 1, 1926, in Muscatine.

Mr. Bell had been in the trucking business for many years. He was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, the Columbus City Lodge No. 107 A.F. and A.M., Davenport Consistory, Louisa County Shrine and was a 33rd degree Mason.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Peters, Mrs. Margaret Gabriel, Mrs. Carla Shellabarger, all of Columbus Junction; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother; one sister; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home with Maxonic service at 7 p.m. Services will be Friday, July 13, at 1:30 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Chapel with Rev. Thomas Woodin officiating. Donna Belle Hughes will be organist and Paul Duncan, soloist.

Casket bearers will be Bill Peters, Richard Pugh, Marvin Carlson, Hayden Davis, Clyde Crawford, and Jerry Bell.

Honorary casket bearers are Ed Goble, Dan Call, and Dan Boyd.

Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemtery.
