Howard E. Bell, Lifelong Resident, Died January 9

Howard E. Bell, a lifelong resident and well known businessman of this city died at 2:30 a.m. Monday January 9, 1967 at the Henry County Memorial Hospital at Mt. Pleasant following an extended illness.

Howard Errol Bell, son of Clifford H. and Maude Hetfield Bell, was born in Louisa county, August 27, 1903 and was aged 63 years, 4 months and 12 days.

He was married to Etta Dircks in Davenport, October 14, 1922.

He organized and was president of the Bell Ready Mix Company which has been in successful operation for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife and four sons, Howard E. Bell, Jr., Jerry Bell and James Bell of Columbus Junction and R. Jon Bell of Columbus City; and five daughters; Mrs. R.M. (Mary Jane) Meyers, Jr., of Muscatine; Mrs. William (Elizabeth)Boulton, Mrs. Howard (Peggy) Kulp and Mrs. William (Karyn) Hills, all of Columbus Junction and Mrs. John (Paulette) Redlinger of Columbus City; also by two brothers, John Bell and Leland Bell, both of Columbus Junction and 23 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral home and were conducted by the Rev. Hubert Sunderman.

Music was by Donna Belle Hughes.

FLower attendants were Mrs. Nellie Klotz and Mrs. Richard Pugh.

Casket bearers were Sam Sands, Ray Collier, George Burns, Stanley Carey, Kenneth Clevenger, James R. Van Auken.

Honorary casket bearers: Joe Marion, Everett Henson, Robert Schmidt, Frank Miller, Robert Hesseltine, William Martin.

Burial in Colubus City cemetery.
