Services Planned for Bell

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, at 1:30 p.m. at Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home for Donald Burdette Bell, age 72, of rural Columbus Junction.

Bell passed away on Monday, July 10, 1989, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Rev. Brian Jensen will officiate, with Donna Belle Huges as organist and Brian Cummings as vocalist. Casket bearers will be Arthur Pugh, William Peters, Kenneth Peters, John Harold Davis, and Gerald Williams.

Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. A general memorial has been established.

Mr. Bell was born Octobe 1, 1916, in Louisa County, the son of Spencer P. and Winnifred Peters Bell. On October 14, 1941, he married Martha Elizabeth Duncan in Kahoka, Missouri. He had been a farmer, retiring in 1984.

He belonged to the United Presbyterian Church in Columbus Junction, was a member of the Columbus City Lodge #107 AF and AM, and the Kaaba Shrine and Davenport Consistory.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Bell, LeClaire, and Samuel J. Bell, Columbus Junction; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Nancy) McKean, Dunlap, Illinois; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Robertson of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Anita Hill of Muscatine and Mrs. Herbert (Mildred) Harbison, Jr. of Morning Sun.

Mr. Bell is preceded in death by his wife, Martha, in April, 1983; and one sister, Mrs. Claude (Dorothy) Kilgore.
