Mildred Beck, 91, of Morning Sun, died Monday, Nov. 24 at the Morning Sun Manor.

Born Nov. 23, 1895, at Morning Sun, she was the daughter of Henry H. and Fannie Veale Beck.

She was a graduate of Morning Sun High School and Coe College and did graduate work in Colorado, Vermont, Tennessee and Missouri. She received her M.A. degree in 1943. Her teaching career spanned 45 years and began at a country school near Columbus Junction in 1916. She retired from McKinley High School, St. Louis, Mo., in 1961.

She was a member of the Morning Sun Presbyterian Church and was affiliated with the Congregational Church, St. Louis.

Survivors include three sisters, Lavenia I. Davenport, Washington, D.C., Esther L. Beck, Green Valley, Ariz., and Margartet V. Hays, Morning Sun.

Visitation was held Wednesday morning at Pierce Funeral Home. Services were held at 1:30 Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Schmidtberger officiating.

Pallbearers were Ray Pilling, Howard Caldwell, Wylie Kilpatrick, John Hays, Talmage Mehaffy and Wilfred Robb.

Geneva Samuels was organist.

Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
