Dale Lester Beenblossom, age 83, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died March 26, 2000, at the Genesis Medical Center, East, at Davenport, Iowa, of an extended heart condition.

Dale Lester Beenblossom was born December 13, 1916, the son of Lester and Edna (Lamley) Beenblossom, in Washington County, Iowa. He attended the country schools of Eureka and Red Brick and Washington High School. He married Opal Norton on December 24, 1935. On July 6, 1974, he married Mary Daufeldt at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Dale was a long time farmer of Louisa County. He was a member of the Family Campers and RVers, belonging to two local chapters and over the years served as a State Field and District Director for the organization. He attended the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Larry (Charlotte)Beenblossom of Cocoa, Florida, and Duane (Jill) Beenblossom of Morning Sun; and two daughters, Hope (Michael) Reed, Keota; and Faith (Jeff) Story, of Columbus Junction. There are twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lucille Escher.

Funeral services were held March 29 at the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello. Rev. Mary N. Pugh officiated. Carolyn Bartenhagen was pianist and organist. Julie Beenblossom shared her memories in poetry and Desiree Reed sang. Casket bearers were Raymond Daufeldt, Dennis Longhurst, Dan Wanfalt, Ron Mairet, Scott Starr, and Tony Martin. Flower attendents were Diana Mairet, Dawn Wanfalt, Tammy Starr, and Cindy Martin. Burial was in the Fulton Cairo Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the Louisa County Ambulance Service.
