Kenneth D. Baxter, 72, of Morning Sun, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 1987, at the Morning Sun Care Center.

Born April 29, 1915, in Bloomington, Ind., he was the son of william T. and Nellie Hessler Baxter. He married Mildred Bliven in 1934. He then married Betty Horn Sept. 20, 1944, in Canton, Mo.

He moved to Morning Sun in 1916. For many years, he owned and operated Baxter's Food Mart in Morning Sun and Burlington. He was also employed at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Middletown, for 21 years, retireing in 1973. He was recently a transport driver for Delzell Brothers, Morning Sun.

He was a member of the Lions Club and the United Methodist Church, Morning Sun.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Ronald W. Baxter, DeWitt, Kenneth A. Baxter, Muscatine, and Allen W. Baxter, Storm Lake; and one daughter, Connie J. Malcolm, Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Betty G. Hobbs, Morning Sun; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Pierce Funeral Home. A memorial has been established for the United Methodist churhc Morning Sun, Ia.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7 at the Morning Sun United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dennis McMillen and the Rev. Harlan Naylor officiated. Pallbearers were Kerry Baxter, Tommy Baxter, Jody Baxter, Jeff
