Eva Blanche Bates, 80, a resident of the Morning Sun community died Thursday evening, May 14, 1959 at the Burlington hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pierce Funeral Home, Morning Sun, with Rev. Floyd Bowerman in charge. Burial was at the Elmwood cemetery, Morning Sun.

Mrs. Bates was born January 28, 1879, at Morning Sun, the daughter of Thomas and Hariett Smith Holland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Bates.

Mrs. Bates is survived by one daughter, Mrs. E.S. Simpson of Morning Sun; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Bates of Sutter, California and Mrs. Ruth Clawson of Fort Dodge; two grandchildren and three great-granchildren.
