Last Rites For Charles W. Bates

Funeral rites for Charles William Bates who died Wendesday, May 31, were held Saturday June 3 at the Dudgeon and McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello

He was the operator of a service station at Wapello for 25 years and was a life resident of Wapello. He was the son of the late Curtis and Angie Nichols Bates and was born July 18, 1901. On June 20, 1929 he was married to Bessie Blanchard in Des Moines. She survives as do a son and daughter; Charles R. Bates; Washington, Iowa and Mrs. Betty Jean Bayne, Solon.

A brother, Lawrence Bates, Ravenna, Ohio and a sister Mrs. Ruth Rogers, Phoenix, Arizona survive him.

Burial was in the Wapello cemetery with Masonic rites.
