Max C. Bratton, 86, of Joy died Thursday, Aug 18, 1988 at Gerogetown Manor Nursing Home, Aledo. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday at the Olin-Jinks Funeral Home, Joy.

Rev. Frank Mack of the First Christian Church, Keithsburg, officiated and burial was in the Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg.

He was born Aug 19, 1901 in Oakville, Iowa, a son of Charles and Carrie Cabeen Bratton. He moved to Missouri in 1911 and to the Boston Bay area in 1912, where he was educated in the rural schools.

He was a farmer southwest of Joy for 20 years, when he retired in 1963 and moved to Joy.

He was a former member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Nellie Carlson of Galesburg and Oneta Klein of Clinton, Iowa, and a nephew, Don Bratton of Westfield, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and a sister.
