Services: 10:30 Tuesday, April 19, Apostolic Christian Church, Oakville. Visitation: noon-8 p.m. today, with family present from 6-8 p.m., Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello.

MORNING SUN, Iowa--John Robert Barth, 96, Morning Sun, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.

The ministers of the church will officiate the services. Casket bearers are Duane Barth, Ronald Barth, Don Carpenter, Bob Ditmars, David Barth and Dennis Barth. Burial will be at Apostolic Church Cemetery, Oakville.

A memorial fund has been established for the Gread River Hospice and Apostolic Christian Church.

Mr. Barth was born Oct. 25, 1908, in Harper, Kan., the son of John and Emma Manniger Barth. He married Ursel Grimm Aug. 21, 1938, in Oakville.

He grew up and attended school in Harper.

He worked for 23 years for Beech Aircraft, Wichita, Kan., as a finish line foreman. After moving to Iowa in 1955, he was a supervisor for Pipe Master Corp., Morning Sun and retired at age 66.

He was a member of Apostolic Christian Church, Oakville. He enjoyed woodworking and being able to give things to his family and others. He and his wife enjoyed and spent 11 winters in Zapata, Texas.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Duane Barth and wife Judith of Minneapolis, Minn., Ronald Barth and wife Leann of Wichita, David Barth and wife Elaine of Bluffton, Ind., and Dennis Barth and wife Robbin of Mediapolis; a daughter, Rebecca Carpenter and husband Dan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Bob Ditmars of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bobbie; a daughter, Carol Ditmars; four brothers, Valnie, Clarence, Elmer and Virgil; and three sisters, Rebecca as an infant, Jane and Ellen.
