Carrie Louise Bratton
Carie Louise (Cabeen) Bratton passed away at 10:30 a.m. on April 24, 1938, at her home in Knoxville, Ill., at the age of 76 years and 27 days.

She was born at Keithsburg, Ill., on March 28, 1862, to William T. and Fanny Kathryn Cabeen. At the age of five she moved with her parents to New London, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Charles E. Bratton in 1884, and moved to their home near Oakville, Iowa, later moving to a farm near New Boston, Ill. After the death of her hus band ten years ago, she moved to Knoxville, Ill., to make her home with her son Clair.

She leaves to mourn her passing seven children: Edward, of Ellensburg, Wash.; Clair, Mrs. Kate Loso and Dale, of Knoxville, Ill.; Erle of Keithsburg, Ernest and Max, of New Boston; and a stpson, Philip, of Oakville, and 15 grandchildren and a host of friends.

At an early age she united with the Presbyterian church and in later years she united with the Methodist church, keeping firm in her faith with God to the end, which came after a three weeks' illness. She was tenderly cared for by her children and friends and was a patient sufferer. She had always lived a busy life, been a faithful wife and mother, kind and loving friend to all and will be sadly missed.

Her funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, in the Methodist church in Keithsburg, conducted by the Rev. Justin Washburn, of the Methodist church in New Boston. Burial was in the eithsburg cemetery. Pall bearers were Ade Humprey, Sam Hampton, Gene Carlson, Frank Renison, Regnos Carlson, Arvid Carlson.
