New Boston, Ill July 20, 1928 - Special

Charles Edward Bratton passed away at his home near New Boston, Ill., Sunday, July 15, 1928, at 10 a.m. at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 24 days.

On May 13, 1928, he suffered a stroke of paralysis and and has since been confined to his bed.

He was born near Zanesville, Ohio, and when only a few weeks old moved with his parents to New Boston, Ill., and later to Keithsburg.

In the spring of 1881 he was united in marriage to Ida May Coonrod. She passed away a year later, leaving a week-old son, Philip Allen, now of Oakville, Iowa.

On Oct. 28, 1884, he was united in marriage to Carrie Louise Cabeen. To this union seven children were born: Edward of Utleyville, Colorado; Mrs. Kate Loso of Randall, Ill.; Dale of Oakville, Iowa; Clair, Earl, Ernest and Max of New Boston, who with the widow survive. He also leaves ten grandchildren.

He is the son of allen W. and Julia Ann Bratton, having three brothers, William, John and Thomas, who have passed away, and one sister, Martha McCall, now of Kissell [sic--should be Kissee] Mills, Missouri. His entire life has been spent in farming, a number of years near Oakville, Iowa, a few years at Rockville, Missouri, and since 1912 he has resided on a farm nea New Boston, Ill.

Mr. Bratton was of a home-loving disposition, a devoted husband, a kind father, respected and honored by all who new him.

Funeral services wereh eld at the M.E. church in Keithsburg, Ill., on Tuesday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. Burian in Green Mound cemetery.
