Mrs. Reta Bartelt, age 66, of 170 North Street, Fruitland, died Sunday, December 23, 1990, at her home. The body has been cremated by the Riley Funeral Home, Muscatine.

Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mulford Evangelical Free Church, with Rev. Calvin Swan in charge. Organist was Barbara Bartelt and Debbie Penner was pianist.

Mrs. Bartelt was born on August 21, 1924, in Louisa County, the daughter of Fred and Gladys Dickerson Westbrook. The former Reta Westbrook married Harold (Diz) Bartelt on March 30, 1951, and he preceded her in death on January 31, 1988.

She was a graduate of Grandview High School and attended AIC in Davenport. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for several years at Poole Transfer Inc. and at Lamp-Rehwaldt Co. She has served as a council person at Fruitland for seven years in the 1970's.

She is survived by one son, Neil C. Bartelt of Fruitland; one daughter, Mrs. David (Mindy) Stark, Muscatine; one sister, Betty Hendrix, and one brother Scott Westbrook, both of Grandview.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers. Memorials may be made to the Musser Public Library or to the Senior Citizen's Room at Fruitland City Hall.
