Ralph Eric "Barney" Bartelt, 67, 106 Gilbert St., died of an apparent heart ailment at his home Thursday morning, August 18.

Services are Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin C. Swan officiating. Pallbearers will be Beanie, Eric, and Brad Bartelt and Gary Richardson. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was Friday afternoon and evening at the funeral home where a memorial has been established.

Mr. Bartelt was born March 1, 1921, in Muscatine, a son of Eric and Elsie Heise Bartelt. He was a life resident here. His marriage to Josephine Blair took place in 1940 n Muscatine.

He was an Army engineer veteran of World War II. He retired in 1983 from the maintenance department at Grain Processing Corporation after more than 20 years there. Before that he was an auto body repairman at Henderson's Garage for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Eric Arnold Bartelt of Wapello; and Ralph Steven "Beanie" Bartelt of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Linda) Richardson of Wapello; five grandchildren; a brother, Eddie, of Muscatine; and a sister, Mrs. Leonard (Sylvia) Maher, also of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.
