FORMER RESIDENT OF MORNING SUN

A telegram was received by J.K. Latta of this city Friday morning informing him of the death of his brother, Major E. Latta, 72, at Fullerton, California, the morning of January 11, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Saturday forenoon at Fullerton.

Mr. Latta was well known to many of our older residents. He was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Latta and was born in Linn county, Kansas in 1871. He came to the Morning Sun Community with his parents in 1875. Here he grew to young manhood and learned the printer's trade in the News office. He married Jennie Parks of Washington, Iowa, where he engaged in business for a time. Later he was employed on the Waterloo, Iowa, Courier. During his printing career he was employed for some months in the Government Printing Office at Washington D.C., and then became a traveling salesman for the Inland Type Foundry and later for the American Type Foundry. He enjoyed a wide acquaintanceship with the newspaper publishers throughout Iowa and adjoining states. In later years he was connected with the American Life Insurance Company of Des Moines and Detroit, Mich.

Mr. and Mrs. Latta of late years had been residents of Seattle, Washington, San Diego, California, and Fullerton, California.

Surviving are the widow and one daughter, Dorothy, the latter of New York City; two brothers, J.K. Latta of this city and Fred G. Latta of Waterloo, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Stennet ? of Alburquerque, New Mexico and Mrs. Nina Jones of St. Louisa, Missouri; also two nieces and two nephews.
