Funeral services for Paul Bailey, 83, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, was held today at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church in Columbus Junction, Iowa. He died Saturday, February 16, 2002, at the Colonial Manor Care Center, Columbus Junction, Iowa. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Allen Wright Hanft Post #100 of the American Legion.

Paul Kenneth Bailey was born July 2, 1918 in Letts, Iowa to William George and Nellie Lucille Paullins Bailey. He married Helen Jean Woodruff on June 22, 1940, in Kahoka, Missouri. He had worked as the store manager for the Economart grocery store in Columbus Junction for 33 years until retiring in 1981. Paul was a WWII veteran serving in the Army from 1944-46 on the Hospital Ship Chateau Thierry. He was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church and the Allen Wright Hanft Post #100 of the American Legion.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Clark and her husband, David, of West Branch, Iowa; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Alta Bailey and Vira Grey. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean in 1986; one brother, Donald Bailey; and long time companion, Patsy Fulton.
