Lila Laugen Belzer, age 86 of Wapello, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, September 30, 2008, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center. The daughter of Louis and Edna Omodt Laugen, she was born on May 1, 1922 at Houston, Minnesota. She married Frank Belzer on June 19, 1949 at Houston. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1993.

Lila graduated from Houston High School and attended Winona State College at Winona, Minnesota. She taught schools in northern Iowa for several years. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church at Wapello.

She is survived by her son, Jim & Desiree Belzer of Columbus, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Eric & Jill Belzer and Erin & Mark Kistler; and four great grandchildren, Thomas and Charlie Kistler and Brianne and Brett Belzer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters.

The family will receive friends at Lila’s home at 727 Washington St. on Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Her body has been cremated and a private burial will be at the Bluff Creek Cemetery at Oskaloosa.

Memorial Gifts may be given to the United Methodist Church.

The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello is providing the care and arrangements.
