Grace Louella Reif, age 92, of Wapello, died Tuesday evening, September 16, 2008, at the Klein Center of Great River Medical Center in Burlington. The daughter of Oscar and Jennie Martin Obermann, she was born on January 24, 1916, at Middletown. Grace married Floyd D. Reif on June 8, 1939 at Middletown. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2003.

Grace attended country school and graduated from Danville High School. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and then taught in country schools in Lee and Henry Counties for five years before she was married. With her husband they farmed near Danville, then near Mt. Union, and then coming to Wapello in 1954.

She love gardening and sewing. Grace was a member of the United Methodist Church at Wapello, the UMW which she had served as President, the Wapello Study Club, the Louisa County Farm Bureau Women where she held offices, Order of Eastern Star #257 at Wapello, the neighborhood Pine Grove Club, and the Louisa County Federated Club where she had served as Chairman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant daughter.

Friends may call after noon on Sunday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

The funeral ceremony for Grace Reif will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 22, 2008, at the United Methodist Church at Wapello, officiated by Rev. Scott Smith. The family and friends will have lunch and fellowship at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall before the burial at Trinity Cemetery near Mt. Union.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Uniteed Methodist Church Building Fund.
