Elmer S. Barbee of Fredonia, died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 1976 at the Washington County Hospital at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 14 days.

He was born July 1, 1900 at Comanche, Texas, the son of Lycurgus and Emma B. Mason Barbee. He married Phyllis Mable Greenland on September 1, 1926 at Eldon.

He was a telegraph operator for the railroad for 44 years, a 50 year Mason, Past Master and member of the Columbus City Lodge No. 107.

His wife survives, also one daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Nancy) Ludwick of Columbus Junction; three grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Barnett of Sherman, Texas, and Bertie Conrad of Achille, Oklahoma; and five brothers, Henry of Denton, Texas, Jack and Leon of Phillips, Texas, Jay of Sherman, Texas, and Robert of Achille, Oklahoma. One brother preceded him in death.

A Masonic service was conducted by Columbus City Lodge No. 107 A.F. & A.M. at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home.

Sevices were held there on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor James Epps officiating. Music was by Miss Donna Belle Hughes and Mrs. Kenneth R. Carrell. Casket bearters were Willie Boyd, Gene Duncan, Delbert Jay, Dick Clevenger, Robert Watson and Lyle Wasson. Cecil Ibbotson was an honarary casket bearer.

Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.
