Funeral services for 92 year old Bessie F. Allen of Columbus Junction, Iowa were held on Monday, May 8, 1995 at 2 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Visitation was Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the Columbus City United Methodist Church. Bessie died on Friday at the Colonial Manor Care Center, Columbus Junction. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery, Columbus City, Iowa.

Bessie Florence Weese was born July 4, 1902 in Gentry Country, Missouri to Alexander and Martha Robinson Weese. She married Reuben Palmer Allen in April of 1921 in Gallenton, Missouri. Bessie was a member of the Columbus City United Methodist Church. Bessie had worked at the Columbus Canning Factory, the Econ-O-Mart store, Columbus Junction and had also cleaned homes in the area for many years.

Survivors include her step-mother, Louise Weese, Seminal, OK. There are 7 daughters, Corrinne Moyer, Columbus Junction, Erma Brown, Huachuca, AR, Arlene Johnson, Columbus Junction, Geneva Snyder, Grandview, Naomi Stites, Huachuca City, AZ, Eula Deese, Columbus City, Kay Bylsma, Columbus Junction; three sons, R. Dean Allen, Muscatine, Don Allen and Ronald Allen, both of Columbus Junction. There are 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Sammy Weese, Winston, Missouri, two sisters, Mrs. Martha McFee, Gallatin, Missouri and Agnes Wellman, Woodward, Oklahoma. There are three half-sister, Verna, Ginger and Jean, all of Oklahoma.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, 3 daughters, 3 brothers, a half-brother, a sister, two grandsons and a great grandson.
