Betty Lou Allen, 74, of Letts, Iowa, died February 27, 2001, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine, Iowa.

Betty Lou Erhardt was born May 23, 1926, in Mishawka, Indiana, the daughter of Norman and Iva Hartman Erhardt. Following her parents' divorce, her mother married Vernon Dale, who raised Betty. Betty married Wayne Allen on October 11, 1946, in Gladbrook, Iowa.

Betty had been a homemaker all her life. She raised horses and belonged to and rode with several saddle clubs.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne, Letts; two daughters, Sherry Fults and her husband, Paul, Muscatine, and Karen Koppe and her husband, Jeff, Letts; and a son, Rodney and his wife, Rhea, of Nichols. There are four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 4-7 p.m., at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, with the family present.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m., at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial in the Letts Cemetery. A memorial has been established at the funeral home for the American Diabetes Association.
