Marguerite ALLEN dies at home

Mrs. M. Marguerite ALLEN, 84, Wapello, died early Wednesday morning, August 17, 1983, at her home.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wapello United Methodist Church with Rev. Gordon Watson officiating. Burial was in the Wapello Cemetery.

The daughter of George and Eva DOTSON-DIEHL, she was born May 31, 1899, in Wapello. She married Orville ALLEN October 6, 1920, in Columbus Junction. He died November 2, 1956.

Mrs. ALLEN was a member of the Wapello United Methodist Church, TTT, Rebekah Lodge and the World War I Veterans Widows. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Louisa County Farm Bureau. She had taught at the Bethel School south of Wapello for many years. Mrs. ALLEN had also been a Columbus Gazette correspondent for a number of years.

She is survived by one son, John ALLEN of Branson, Missouri.

Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
