Thomas W. CUTKOMP dies in Rock Island
Thomas W. CUTKOMP of 3011 37th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois, died February 6 at Public Hospital in Moline, Illinois, after an extended illness. He was 85 years old.
Mr. CUTKOMP was born in Columbus City July 24, 1897, a son of Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Leona BERRY-CUTKOMP. He was raised in Columbus City and married November 3, 1917, to Virginia J. PINE. He had worked for 35 years as a production employee at Dewey Portland Cement Plant of Martin-Marietta Corporation at Linwood. He retired in 1962. He also farmed in Linwood and Buffalo areas from 1925 to 1978. He had moved to the Linwood area in 1925 and to Davenport in 1944 where he lived until going to Rock Island in 1978. He was a member of the Midway Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Davenport.
The funeral was held in Wheelan Funeral Home Wednesday, February 9, with the Rev. George Tharp in charge. Burial was in Memorial Park at Davenport.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; four daughters; Mrs. Claude (Anita) McLAUGHLIN, Mrs. Jay (Joyce) ERWIN and Mrs. Chick (Virginia) MARSHALL, all of Lakeland, Florida, and Mrs. Roger (Jacquelynn) WADDELL of Rock Island, Illinois; four sons; Thomas of Laguna Beach, California, Warren of El Rancho Santa Fe, California, Samuel of San Francisco, California, and Richard of Escondido, California; 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
