Former area resident dies

Jerry Lee MARSHALL, 50, of 5510 68th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, 54494, died Monday, May 5, 1986, at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Wisconsin Rapids with Rev. Calvin Ficher officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and graveside services will be held at the Columbus City Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 9, with Rev. Richard Faris officiating.

Mr. MARSHALL was born July 29, 1935, at Muscatine, the son of Ralph and Fern EDWARDS-MARSHALL. He graduated from Columbus Junction High School in 1953 and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Iowa in 1963. He had been a French teacher in Lincoln High School, Wisconsin Rapids for 23 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He married Mary Ellen NICHOLS, March 10, 1955, at Morning Sun.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957.

Surviving are his wife; his mother, Fern MARSHALL of Columbus Junction; three children, Mrs. Kim (Kimberly) MELBY of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Mrs. Ray (Janice) BUTLER of St. Paul, Minnesota and Kevin MARSHALL of Wisconsin Rapids; one grandson, Jeremy MARSHALL; one brother, Jack MARSHALL of Davenport, Iowa; and one sister, Mrs. Farrel (Delores) GENTZLER of Columbus Junction.

His father preceded him in death.
