C.J. LESSENGER dies November 5

Carroll James LESSENGER, 73, Wapello, died Thursday evening at the Burlington Medical Center.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. Rev. John Beebout will officiate. Burial is in the Wapello Cmetery, where Odd-fellow rights will be held. Visitation is 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The son of James and Alda HUTCHINSON-LESSENGER, he was born August 3, 1908, in New London.

His marriage to Lucille SHAW took place August 12, 1929, in Mount Pleasant. He had farmed in the Wapello area from 1944 until 1974. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the IOOF No. 19 of Wapello, for which he was Past Noble Grand, and had served on the Wapello school board for many years.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Arlo of Muscatine; three daughters, LaDonna Joe LESSENGER and Riva STUART, both of Muscatine and Roberta BOULTON of Wapello; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph of New London and Harold of Burlington; and two sisters, Audrey DUNN of New London and Virginia LeMAR of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and a granddaughter.
