Delbert D. JOHNSON, 68, dies
Delbert Dale JOHNSON, 68, Village Court, Mediapolis, died Satruday, March 15, at Veterans Medical Center, Iowa City.
Services were held Tuesday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Stacy-Lewis Chapel. Rev. Gregg Carlson officiated. Mrs. Roger Cutkomp was the organist. Burial took place in the Columbus City Cememtery. Casket bearers were Roger Cutkomp, Dale Jones, Oscar Steele, Eugene Steele.
He was born April 18, 1917, at Rubio to Luther and Eva CLOUD-JOHNSON. He married Wilma LAYMAN March 31, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant. He was a self-employed auctioneer, World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Disabled Americans Veterans. He was affiliated with the Columbus City Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma; four daughters, Melba JOHNSON, Burlington, Patricia (Mrs. David) BRAY, Blanchard, Oklahoma, Beverly JOHNSON, Burlington, and Darlene (Mrs. WIlliam) MOYER, Burlington; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Kinnison and Luther, both of Tucson, Arizona; three sisters, Dorothy (Mrs. Elwood) LAYMAN, Wapello, Mrs. Irene SUITS, Shelbyville, Indiana, and Mrs. Agnes PLATT, Orion, Illinois. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Rachel WILCOX, Nancy JONES and Crystal STEELE; one brother, Oscar JOHNSON; one infant son, John Edward JOHNSON.
