John Harlan STEWART, 70, dies

John Harlan STEWART, 70, Wapello, died Friday, August 24, 1984, at the Burlington Medical Center.

Services were held at 10 am on Monday, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial was in the Wapello Cemetery.

The son of Earnest and Mary Blanche Timmons Stewart, he was born August 4,1914, in Lake Park, Iowa. Me married Verlee Fletcher January 20, 1937, in Wapello.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He had been a farmer and in 1966 began working for the City of Wapello. He worked for the Wapello School District from 1975 to 1980 when he retired.

Survivors include his wife; one son Dale of Columbus Junction; two daughters, Donna Pterson of Burlington and Doris Howard of Morning Sun; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two brothers, James of Burlington and Paul of Columbus Junction.

One son and one brother preceded him in death.
