Dale Roger Stewart, age 62 of Morning Sun, died Friday November 24, 2006 at his home in Morning Sun. The son of John Harlan and Verlee (Fletcher) Stewart, he was born May 1, 1944 at Burlington. On June 4, 1999 he married Sherry Stanton at Wapello. In earlier years he worked at various farm jobs. He was also employed at Rath Packing, IBP and Tyson Foods. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He is survived by his wife Sherry of Morning Sun; two sons, Jamie Stewart and Stephanie Burmeister of Wapello; Jason Stewart of Wellman; one stepdaughter, Kirsten and Curt Shellabarger of Columbus Junction; two step sons, Brian and Tracee Holmes of Wapello; Aaron and Jamie Holmes of Morning Sun; one grandson, Brenton Stewart and two special grandsons, Bryce and Colton; six stepgrandchildren; Tristan, Tanner, and Avery Shellabarger; Dustin, Dawson and Briar Holmes; two sisters; Donna Peterson of Burlington and Doris Howard of Morning Sun; several nieces and nephews; He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3-5:00 p.m. at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello, where the family will meet with friends. The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, with Rev. Dan Doolin officiating. Interment will follow at the Wapello Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name.
