Harry M. Bliven was born in Columbus Junction, Iowa on August 12, 1896 and passed away August 11, 1966. He was the son of John J. and Bessie E. Atkinson Bliven, who preceded him in death.

As a boy Harry worked on farms. He gained some skill in selecting seed corn for the farmers around Letts. He followed the automobile business up to the day of his sudden death, at which time he was employed under partial retirement as service manager at Schwind-Boeker, Inc. in Davenport. Prior to this he had worked as service manager of Quality Buick at his own establishment, Bliven Auto Service and at Sieg Co.

He was a veteran of World War I and shortly after army discharge, he went to Davenport where he lived for over 46 years. He married Leona Quinn in April 1921. She preceded him in death on Apri 26, 1962. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Anna) Ewing, Muscatine, Mrs. Cecil (Margaret) Schlichting of Conesville, and one brother Blaine Bliven of Columbus Junction, many nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

He was a member of the American Legion, Kaaba Temple, Columbus city Lodge AF & Am.
Services were held at Runge's Chapel on August 13 with interment in Memorial Park in Davenport.
