Patricia Jean Samuels, age 80, of Wapello, Iowa, died Sunday morning, November 5, 2006, at her home. The daughter of Jack and Mary Sellers Lihs, she was born September 3, 1926 at Cairo, Iowa. She married Gene E. Marshall on May 4, 1947 at Cairo. He died in June of 1955. She married Harold Dean Samuels on October 14, 1960 at Iowa City, Iowa.

She graduated from Wapello High School in 1943. She worked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant at Burlington for four years and at the Wapello Republican for three years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the UMW Circle at Wapello and had taught Sunday School with the children for forty years. She was also a member of the Louisa County Historical Society.

Patricia had played softball for eight years. She had been an Election Board Worker. She loved bowling, fishing, playing cards, quilting, and babysitting her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Dean Samuels; two daughters, Teresa & Doug Hank of Wapello and Delores 'Doddie' Burgus & Dick Roth of Burlington; four grandchildren, Deann Giese and Jeremy Spears both of Burlington, Brad & Chevy Hank and Tyler Hank both of Wapello; six great-grandchildren, Bradlee and Kirstyn Hank of Wapello, Stasha and Emma Giese of Kirkwood, Illinois, Sierra Chaney and Denver French both of Burlington; three sisters, Wanda & Bill Marshall of Wapello, Peggy & Keith Lowary of Stratford, Iowa, and Baja & Sam Brown of Princeton, Iowa; two brothers, Jackie Lihs of Winfield and Donald Lihs of Columbus Junction; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Lihs; her first husband, Gene Marshall; a daughter, Cathy Marshall; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Hank; a sister, Shirley Leasch; and a brother, Dean Lihs.

As per her wish her body has been cremated.

The funeral ceremony for Patricia Samuels will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at the United Methodist Church at Wapello, with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. The family will gather to meet friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church entry.

Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello United Methodist Church Children's Department.
