Martha Rebecca Walker, age 81, of Wapello, Iowa, died Sunday afternoon, October 29, 2006, at her home. The daughter of Myron Leon and Flossie Rebecca Adamson Daily, she was born October 4, 1925 at Wapello. She married Marvin Walker on October 14, 1945 at Wapello.

Martha graduated from Wapello High School in 1943. She had worked early as a stenographer for the Old Age Assistance and then as a teller for the State Bank of Wapello. After her marriage and years as a homemaker she began working at the Wapello Livestock Auction on Tuesdays and then began working full time at the bank for several years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello and the Midway Circle. She enjoyed the Hawkeyes, square dancing, her gardening and the many times at the state fair.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; her daughter, Elaine & Bill Tolbert of Edmond, Oklahoma; her son, Darrell & Juanita Walker of Morning Sun; five grandchildren, Mark Gates, Angela Millar, Kristen Gates, Jennifer Walker, and Adam Walker; three great-grandchildren, Colton Millar, Brayden Millar, and Isabelle Bocksell; and three sisters, Alice & Kenneth Carter of Altoona, Helen & Bill Iten of Naples, Florida, and Myra Mehaffy of Mediapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Shirley Walker.

The funeral ceremony for Martha Walker will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, November 2, 2006, at the Louisa Center Church at Wapello, with Rev. James H. Huston officiating. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Louisa Center Church, the Great River Hospice, and the Wapello Rescue Unit.
