Emogene Y. Brown, age 96, of Wheaton, Illinois and longtime resident of Oakville, Iowa, died Monday evening, November 8, 2004, at the Wynscape Nursing Center at Wheaton. The daughter of James and Myrtle Craig Young, she was born October 30, 1908 at St. Charles, Iowa.

She worked as a teacher and county Extension Director in Iowa. She enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, and people. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Oakville.

She is survived by her daughter Josephine & Gordon Berkholes of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a son Richard & Joann Brown of Wheaton; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; son, Irvin; a sister; and a brother.

The funeral ceremony for Emogene Brown will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2004, at the United Methodist Church at Oakville. Burial will follow at the Edwards Cemetery at Oakville.

Friends may call after noon on Friday at the Dudgeon-McCulley funeral Home at Wapello where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the United Methodist Church at Oakville.
