Edna Mary Haschar 1912 - 2006

Edna Mary Haschar, age 94, of Grandview, Iowa, died Sunday morning, July 30, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics at Iowa City, Iowa. The daughter of Joseph and Barbara Tomashek Vavra, she was born May 15, 1912 at Marshalltown. She married G. Dewey Haschar on December 2, 1930 at Marshalltown. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1990.

Edna was a longtime member of the Grandview Community Bible Church where she taught Sunday School for 40 years, impacting the lives of many young children. She was a member of the missionary society for many years.

She was a homemaker and had made many beautiful quilts and embroidery pieces and other types of needlework. She enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables and fruits.

She is survived by two sisters, Betty Speas and Dorothy Gould both of Marshalltown; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends, Kandy & Josh Cassaday of Aurora, Colorado and the Calvelage, Stickrod, and Thompson families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey; her parents; a son Donald Dewey; four brothers, Rudy, Joe, John, and Charles; and two sisters, Mary & Rosie.

The funeral ceremony for Edna Haschar will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 3, 2006, at the Grandview Community Bible Church at Grandview, with Rev. Darryl Erickson officiating. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello where the family will meet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Grandview Community Bible Church.

The casket bearers included Bill Stickrod, Rodney Stickrod, Dave Thompson, Michael Thompson, Joshua Cassaday, Garry Creed, and Merwin Thompson.
