Brenda Schafer

Brenda C. Schafer, 61, of Mundelein, Ill., died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at her home.

Born Sept. 27, 1943, in London, she was the daughter of Sidney and Rose Forsdike. On June 10, 1983, she married James H. Schafer in Chicago.

She worked almost exclusively in data processing and computer operations.

She immigrated to the United States at age 19 after her mother's death and was initially employed in River Forest, Ill.

Survivors include her husband; one grandson; two sisters, Barbara Younger of Palmerston North, New Zealand and Jean Giles of Orpington Kent, England; one brother, David Forsdike of Eastbourne, England; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and one brother.

There will be no visitation.

The memorial service for Mrs. Schafer will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, with the Rev. Kimberly Bowles officiating. Burial will be in Letts Cemetery. There will be a time for food and fellowship following the service at Letts United Methodist Church.

A memorial has been established for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
