Felix Torres

Felix Macias Torres, 79, of Conesville died of cancer Saturday, July 22, 2006, at his home.

Born July 26, 1926, in Del Rio, Texas, he was the son of Tomas G. and Maria D. Macias Torres. On Feb. 1, 1954, he married Armandina G. Zuniga in Del Rio.

He worked at H.J. Heinz in Muscatine, Rath Packing in Columbus Junction and Louis Rich in West Liberty. He also worked the farmers market for Buser Farms of Conesville. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Columbus Junction. He enjoyed working in his garden and playing sports with his grandchildren. In his younger days he enjoyed playing soccer, softball and baseball.

Survivors include four daughters, Maria D. Herrera of Conesville, Maria L. Torres of Muscatine, Margarita Z. DeAlejandro of Wapello and Maria A. Musgrove of Columbus Junction; four sons, Martin F. Torres of Conesville and Greg Torres, Jose L. Torres and Felix Torres Jr., all of Conesville; one brother, Gregorio Torres of Mexico; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A rosary will be at 6:30 p.m.

Funeral services for Mr. Torres will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Columbus Junction with interment in Conesville Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Appel of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will officiate.

A memorial has been established.
