Billy Havenhill

Billy Don Havenhill, 63, of Waukon, and formerly of Wapello, died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Veterans Medical Center in Knoxville.

Born Sept. 12, 1942, in Burlington, he was the son of Donald and Donna Parsons Havenhill.

Mr. Havenhill worked as a police officer for nine years in Burlington and served as the Louisa County sheriff for 16 years. He was a 1960 graduate of Wapello High School. He was a graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. He served in the Navy from 1961 to 1965.

Survivors include one son, Joe Havenhill of Clive; one grandson; one sister, Sue Ranum of Waukon, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Graveside services for Mr. Havenhill will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Parsons Cemetery in rural Wapello. Graveside rites will be provided by the Louisa County Sheriff's Department.

A memorial has been established. Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello is in charge of arrangements.
