Charles Jones

Charles Jones, 82, of Wapello died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington due to complications following surgery.

Born May 28, 1924, in Louisa County, he was the son of Roy and Lulu Connor Jones. On Feb. 21, 1948, he married Margery Pretz in Columbus Junction.

Mr. Jones was a farmer.

He was a 1941 graduate of Grandview High School. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a sergeant in the Army. He was a member of Grandview Community Bible Church and served as a church deacon for several years.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Tim Jones of Columbus Junction; one daughter, Shirley White of Quincy, Ill.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lee Jones of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.

The funeral for Mr. Jones will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grandview Community Bible Church, with the Rev. Darryl Erickson officiating. Following the committal service, there will be a time of food and fellowship at Grandview Community Bible Church.

A memorial has been established.
