Edna Haschar

Edna Marie Haschar, 94, of Grandview, died Sunday, July 30, 2006, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born May 15, 1912 in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Tomashek Vavra. She married G. Dewey Haschar on Dec. 2, 1930 in Marshalltown. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1990.

She was a longtime member of Grandview Community Bible Church, where she taught Sunday school for 40 years. She was a member of the missionary society for many years. She was a homemaker and had made many beautiful quilts and embroidery pieces and other types of needlework. She enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables and fruits.

She is survived by two sisters, Betty Speas and Dorothy Gould, both of Marshalltown; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello, where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs. Haschar will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Grandview Community Bible Church in Grandview, with the Rev. Darryl Erickson officiating. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for Grandview Community Bible Church.
