GRANDVIEW COUPLE WEDDED FIFTY YEARS

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Guthrie Celebrate Anniversary

ALL CHILDREN PRESENT

Marriage Took Place at Grandview But a Short Distance From Present Home - No Deaths in Immediate Family - Sumptuous Dinner Served To Guests - Many Nice Presents Received - All Children Present.

A happy and notable golden wedding anniversary celebration was that of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Guthrie, which occurred Tuesday, Feb. 22d, at their home in Grandview. They were married in that place just fifty years previous within two blocks of their present home by 'Squire Rhinely. The bride's maiden name was Marietta Vandevort. Four sons were born to them, all of whom are living and were present.

Those in attendance were: Theodore Guthrie, wife and son, of Syracuse, Neb.: Silas, wife and children, of Grandview; Jas. M., wife and two children, of Wapello; Will and wife of Corydon, Iowa; Mose Guthrie, wife and son, of Grandview; Mrs. W.C. Saunders, Leslie Rogers and Walter Hurley and wife, of Wapello; Mrs. M. Young, Mr. and Mrs. Gipple and son, Miss Ora Gast and Rev. and Mrs. H.W. Cannon, all of Grandview.

Dinner was served in the I.O.O.F. building. Following the invocation by Rev. Cannon, the company sat down to a bouteous repast. The tables were nicely decorated with white and red carnations and lenten lillies, the room with flags and bunting. Following a period of social converse, Mr. Hurley, for the sons and other relatives and friends, presented Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie with a splendid rocking chair, a gold handled parasol, a set of silver tablespoons and teaspoons, a gold brooch pin, and some dishes. Numerous are the wishes that these good people may.... (the rest of the article has deteriorated and no longer present).
