Miss Mathilda Plumb and Ernst A. Wehmeyer surprised their many friends when they were united in marriage at high noon last Thursday at the Methodist parsonage in Columbus Junction, Rev. E.C. Brooks performing the ceremony. The couple were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Stephen R. Plumb, the former a brother of the bride, who were the sole witnesses of the ceremony. The newly-weds came to Wapello after the ceremony and a big wedding dinner was served for them in the evening at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Plumb. On Friday evening the couple was honored by a reception and dance at the S.P. Plumb home.

If the weather is favorable they expect to leave today in the groom's automobile for La Feria, Texas, where his father, Mr. J.H. Wehmeyer resides, which will be their future home.

The bride and groom are both well known to Wapello people. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen P. Plumb of Port Louisa township, where she was born and raised. The family resided in Wapello for several years, but moved back to the farm a year ago. She is a winsome young lady and endowed with many admirable accomplishments. The groom is the oldest son of Mr. J. H. Wehmeyer of La Feria, Texas. He was born and raised in Jefferson township. He moved with his folks to Texas several years ago, but returned to Wapello about two years ago. The couple have a host of admiring friends who will send best wishes with them to their new home in Texas, among which The Republican is pleased to be numbered.
