Services Monday for Wayne B. Cleaver, Former Marion ManWayne B. Cleaver, a former resident of Marion, met death last week near Havre, Mont., when he was struck by lightning and instantly killed. For several years he has been employed as a brakeman on the Great Northern system, and had gone to the rear of the train on flag duty when the stroke came.
He was born in Marion August 7, 1898, to Alton[sic] A. and Anna J. Cleaver, was educated here and in 1917 enlisted in Co. C 133rd Infantry, and was in overseas duty. His two brothers, Lyle and Elton Cleaver, live at 969 Sixth avenue, Marion. He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Yocom chapel in Marion, with Rev. Stuart C. Bretnall of Center Point in charge of the service. Marion Legion post, No. 298, assisting. The pallbearers were Herbert Price, Frank Cheadle, William J. Scott, and Glenn Cheadle. Burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
