The Marion Register Wednesday March 20, 1895
Samuel Cherry died Feb. 25th, at Woodbine, Harrison county, Iowa, and was buried in the cemetery here Feb. 27th. Funeral services were held at his home. His death was the result of an accident which occurred while chopping timber close to his home. A tree lodged upon another an in rebounding caught and mashed his leg. He was held by the tree for more than an hour before being released. He lingered in great bodily pain, but in peace of mind and the glorious hope of the gospel.
Mr. Cherry married Miss Cassie Brown who was well known here at Springville ten or twelve years ago. A little daughter was laid away here four years ago. Mr. Cherry married again three years ago. Mrs. Cherry with a little daughter and one boy about ten years of age, beside a large circle of friends mourn their loss.
For a number of years Mr. Cherry was an honest Christian and a Methodist. His end was peace--Springville New-Era.
