Mrs. Swayne Called by Death Saturday
A lifetime resident of Linn county and prominent lodge worker in Marion, Mrs. Marshall Swayne, died last Saturday noon at her home, 1435 Tenth street, after an illness of some duration, at the age of 73.
As Emma Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Cook she was born Sept. 12,1857, on a farm south of Marion. In 1887 she was married to Marshall Swayne and moved to Sac county where she lived for seven years. They returned to Linn county after this and resided on a farm near here until two years ago when they moved into town.
For thirty years Mrs. Swayne was a member of the Rebekah lodge, holding numerous offices in the organization and was a member of the Past Noble Grand association of the Rebekahs and of the auxiliary of Patriarchs Militant.
Surviving are her husband and one brother, Charles Cook of California.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Yocom chapel with the Rev. Dr. W.C. Keeler, Methodist pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Oak Shade cemetery. Grove City Rebekah lodge, No. 35 conducted the services.
