Carl Hindman, a life-long resident of Marion, died Saturday, at 6:20 a.m., at the University hospital in Iowa City, failing to recover from an operation.
He was born in Marion Dec. 17, 1868, the son of Dr. David R. and Margaret Jackson Hindman, was graduated from the Marion schools, and attended Coe college for two years, and also graduated from the Vinton School for the Blind. Later he taught in that school for many years, his principal task being to instruct his pupils to become experts in piano-tuning. He retired two years ago.
Mr. Hindman never married, and is survived by his two sisters, Mrs. N.A. Baker and Mrs. Clara Wilson, with whom he made his home. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Marion Presbyterian church and of Osceola lodge, No. 18, I.O.O.F.
Funeral services were held from the Yocom chapel Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong, pastor of the Presbyterian church, in charge. Burial was in Oak Shade cemetery.
